Underwater Excavation Records Using Underwater Acoustic Survey: A Case Study in South Korea

چکیده
The most effective method for surveying underwater archeological sites is visually identifying areas with relics or remains through diving surveys. However, during excavations, it difficult to obtain images in turbid water. Furthermore, on-site costly and time-consuming. Marine acoustic geophysical survey equipment not significantly affected by turbidity, excavations often rely on surface inspections. This study aimed improve existing excavation imaging the application of methods. Underwater surveys were conducted via marine devices at three historically significant South Korea: Dangampo, Nakwoldo Island, Battle Myeongnyang. At Dangampo site, using different sonar devices—side scan sonar, multibeam echo sounder, scanning sonar—and results compared; was effective. methodology further refined Myeongnyang sites. Results show that can produce are more accurate than drawings produced even environments. Moreover, applied conjunction high-frequency exploration techniques, increase reliability investigations buried relics.

Evaluation of underwater acoustic propagation model (Ray theory) in a river using Fluvial Acoustic Tomography System
Underwater acoustics is widely used in many applications, such as oceanography, marine biology, hydrography, fishery, etc. Different models are introduced to simulate the underwater acoustic propagation in the oceans and the seas. In this study, the Ray Theory model is used to simulate the acoustic wave propagation in a shallow-freshwater river (Gono River) located in western part of Japan. The...
متن کاملA Survey on Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network Routing Protocols
Underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) have become more and more important in ocean exploration applications, such as ocean monitoring, pollution detection, ocean resource management, underwater device maintenance, etc. In underwater acoustic sensor networks, since the routing protocol guarantees reliable and effective data transmission from the source node to the destination node, routing...
متن کاملUnderwater Acoustic Modem- Challenges, Technology and Applications - A Review Survey
Today, underwater acoustic communication is developing for its various applications. For signal transmission in underwater using ocean/ sea/lakes/rivers as a medium an appropriate underwater acoustic system is required. The significant characteristic of ocean makes the underwater communication difficult using electromagnetic waves. The characteristics of an acoustic signal make a good candidate...
متن کاملAdaptive Underwater Acoustic Communications
Underwater wireless networks consist of mobile and static nodes, which usually communicate using the acoustic channel since radio transmissions attenuate rapidly and optical communication is only suitable for short distances. The underwater acoustic channel is plagued with issues of high transmission power requirements, rapidly changing channel characteristics, multi-path echoes, possible high ...
